Help! There are bubbles in my airbrush paint cup!

Here's the situation.... your spraying away with your airbrush and all of a sudden it seems to be acting "funny". You glance down and you see this...

Bubble in your paint well!

Why does this happen?

Bubbles appear in the cup when there is something blocking the airflow out the front of your brush.

In fact, you can prove this to yourself by filling your cup full of water, placing your finger over the nozzle cap, and then slowly pressing down and pulling back the trigger. This will cause the water to bubble in your cup (and is a great way to clean your paint well out too!)

But you have bubbles without placing your finger over the nozzle, right? So something else must be blocking the airflow.

The most common blockage is caused by tip dry. Tip dry is when pigments from the paint dry on the needle tip.

Remove the nozzle cap and inspect your needle tip. Does it look like this?

If it does, you have a tip dry problem.

Just use your finger nail to clean the tip off. Then give the paint in the cup a swirl with a toothpick (or something like that) to break up the bubbles.

Spray paint onto a scrap piece of paper and see if the bubble problem is gone. It should work just fine now.

If it doesn't - give your brush a good cleaning!
