FAQ: Frequent Airbrush Questions

Do you have airbrush questions? Or maybe questions about me? Or maybe a page exists here that answers your question exists here and you just can't find it ...

The answers to those questions just might be on the list below... better check it out!

Side Note: Have I told you lately how much I LOVE hearing from you guys!! It's so motivating to know that I am reaching actual real people and really helping! If you have a question please do not hesitate to ask me though my contact page. Usually I answer directly, but when I see a trend in the questions, I'll post a response here too!

How long have you been airbrushing?

I have been airbrushing since December 27, 2005 (I remember the date because it was my birthday!).

Are you a professional airbrush artist?

I get asked this a lot ... and my quick answer is no - I'm an "airbrush enthusiast" with a day job who sometimes gets compensated for my work. Mostly I work for free because I love it!

I'm a beginner, which airbrush should I buy?

Sorry folks ... no quick answer here ... everyone has a budget and I don't want to "force" you into buying something you can't afford ... but you may want to read this!

What airbrush do you use?

I have three airbrushes in my rotation - but am always eager to add to my collection (someday I plan on having a wall of airbrushes - sort of like people mount guns). As of today (December 2008) I have an Iwata Revolution HPC, an Iwata Custom Micron CM-SB and a Iwata Revolution HP-BCR. I got them in that order.

I am a beginner and I am having trouble with paints. What do you recommend as a beginner paint?

If you have never ever painted, I recommend FW Ink then I would move to Golden Airbrush Colors. After that, you will have a good understanding of how acrylic paints work so then the sky is the limit.

What paint do you use?

I have a whole whack of paint - but the one I gravitate to most is my Holbien Aeroflash Paint.
