Createx Airbrush Colors
Createx airbrush colors are one of the most popular brands of airbrush paints because they're: - easily accessible as most craft stores have them and
- fairly inexpensive and
These paints, in my opinion, are not for "newbies" as they are fairly tough to work with until you get the hang of them ... but they are GREAT when you need a high adhesion paint, because Createx STICKS like no other making it perfect for . Paint Formula Createx airbrush colors are a 100% water based acrylic paint. The fact that the paints are acrylic makes them really easy to clean up - just soap and water does the trick! As mentioned above, this paint has amazing adhesion but it also has great color payoff. These paints are meant to be used straight out of the bottle, though, I have found that some thinning is required and possibly straining. Thinning and straining (through a nylon) help to separate out the larger particles of paint that can clog up your airbrush. In my experience I have used Createx airbrush colors that worked perfectly fine and others that were just plain frustrating because they were so prone to clogging... I have to believe that my experience was not due to the manufacturer but instead to the retail store. I think that some stores have createx on the shelves that is older than time itself - for that reason, if you want to try Createx airbrush colors I recommend you buy them from a reputable on-line company that goes through stock faster than your average art supply store. Packaging Createx airbrush colors are available in six sizes: - 2 ounce
- 4 ounce
- 8 ounce
- 16 ounce
- 32 ounce
- 1 gallon !!
All the bottles (except for the gallon version) are transparent plastic bottles equipped with flip top lids. The nice thing about the transparent bottle is that, obviously, you can clearly see the color, but also you can tell if it is well mixed prior to use (all paints settle into their various parts when left to sit). The flip tops can get a little messy as they don't tend to drip out paint as neatly as you may like. WORD OF WARNING: Always be careful when snapping a messy flip top closed ... somehow it always manages to splatter paint and, like buttered bread, it always lands on your artwork - damn Karma. Application I personally find this paint sort of tough to apply. Like anything it is something that you have to get used to ... and after some messing around with airbrush, thinning and airbrush sizes I found that working with it with a higher pressure (around 45 psi) an using an airbrush with a larger needle/nozzle combination (at least .5 mm) that I was able to make this paint work like I wanted it to. Based on that, I wouldn't say Createx airbrush colors are very beginner friendily. Uses Createx airbrush colors ROCK for application on fabric !!! They can also be used on leather, illustration board, canvas, wood, ceramics, clay or models. I wouldn't recommend this paint for use on helmets or for other custom applications just because they are not specifically formulated for that use - they would probably work fine - but I'm too chicken to try.
